In prior visits to Rome, I had never been to the Trastevere section. It used to be the old Jewish Quarter. It is now a lively place filled with churches, small shops, and many cafés and restaurants that line the narrow, twisting maze of alleyways. Most of the restaurants serve fairly traditional and expected Roman fare. I found an outpost of modern cuisine amongst these places (in advance). The restaurant is multi-lingual, so there was no difficulty understanding what the menu was about and communicating with the staff.
